Welcome to our world! We dreamed of someday buying an RV and traveling the United States to see all the amazing sites this great country has to offer while we enjoyed our retirement…someday. Someday came much quicker than we expected due to circumstances beyond our control. In the end, everything happens for a reason, which we firmly believe so now we are living our dream and sharing our adventures with you.
Brian is our comedian and “junkyard dog”. He’s camped much of his life in everything from a tent, to a Class C motorhome, to a Class A motorhome. Before he retired, he was a welder and fabricator by trade and grew up fixing pretty much anything and everything. He knows a LOT about how things work and how to make something amazing from nothing. He is excited to share that knowledge with you.
In 2021 he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. We knew his life was going to be shorter than we thought, but he was still working, we rode our motorcycle on the weekends, and we enjoyed fires in the backyard on Saturnight nights. On December 24, 2021, we found out he had COVID, which for someone with pulmonary fibrosis, is a very scary experience. Long story short, he contracted COVID pneumonia with 100% coverage of his lungs. He spent a month in the hospital with the doctors telling us daily that he would likely not make it home. By sheer willpower, he did make it home, however, COVID pneumonia destroyed half his lungs and further shortened his time here. We decided to make the most of whatever time we have, so we went ahead and bought an RV to begin our traveling adventure in June of 2022.
Julie is our tech-head and graphics designer. Even though she had never camped other than in a tent in the backyard as a kid, she dreamed of retiring early and traveling the US in an RV. She didn’t think the stars were going to align for early retirement until she met Brian. She loves graphic design as well as photographing and filming all our amazing adventures.
She wanted to support Brian in his dream to travel out west in an RV after his diagnosis so she jumped on board. She was working as an analytics developer, and was fortunate enough to work from home so she was able to travel and work. The day the first payment was due on the RV, she found out she was getting laid off from her job in a few months. Years before she set a goal to retire early in 2022, but didn’t think she could make it happen after some unfortunate life events. Facing the lay off, she decided to make that dream happen and retire by Brian’s side so they could travel the country together.
Layla is our resident “punkin’ head” and “booger butt”. She had a rough start at life when Brian saved her. She was the runt of the litter and the facility was “letting nature take it’s course”. He took her home, hand fed her from a syringe, and made sure she survived. At 1 year old, she weighed 1 pound. After lots of love and care, she’s now a 5 pound Min-Pin (Miniature Pincher) who absolutely loves to camp and ride on the golf cart.
